The Horse That Can Fly

The Horse That Can Fly

Around the Bluhmin’ Town

Twas the night before Christmas, so I thought I might ride

Got my horse saddled up, brought my dog as the guide

We headed on trails, with the moon shining bright

Taking in all the beauty of a cool, holy night.

While out on the trail, guess who we would see?

Santa and reindeers, at rest under a tree.

We came to a stop, startled at first

Then Santa greeted us with a friendly outburst.

So glad you are here, he smiled and said

We could use some help pulling this sled.

It seems that our elves overloaded the sleigh

Your sturdy horse may help save the day.

With no special skills and not sure how to fly,

My brave little horse said, I’ll give it a try.

Hitched up at the lead, my horse gave a kick.

The eight reindeers paused and looked at Saint Nick.

Have faith little reindeers, please do not worry,

Let’s get ourselves ready, and we better hurry.

Santa spoke firmly, pointing up to the sky,

The night is upon us, it’s time that we fly.

The reindeers looked stunned and stood perfectly still.

Frozen in fear, they looked up at the hill.

Santa knew that a horse at the lead of the sled

Had created anxiety, perhaps even dread.

There is no time for doubt

Santa boomed with a shout

Christmas is coming. Let’s get along.

The children are waiting. To do nothing is wrong.

Santa tipped his hat and got in his sleigh.

We must go now, up and away.

He may be a horse, but tonight he will fly,

Is all Santa said as they rose in the sky.

The parents of children looked up at the sight

Of a horse leading Santa’s sleigh in the night.

Children snuck out to peek up at the sky,

Giggling out loud at the horse who could fly

So one little horse, who had not thought that he could.

Learned that if you believe, you certainly would:

Soar above treetops on the lift of faith’s wings

Because hope is the real gift that this Christmas brings.
